Use AI without losing
the learning.
An answer is not the same as understanding. These questions help you decide when an AI tool might support practice — and when to put it aside.
01 · CHECK THE RULES
Start with school and parent guidance.
Check whether the tool is permitted for the task and suitable for your age. Follow your school’s assessment rules. Do not submit generated work as your own or use AI where help is prohibited.
02 · PROTECT INFORMATION
Keep personal details out of prompts.
Avoid names, contact details, school information, health details and identifiable classmates’ work. Ask a parent or teacher before uploading documents or using a new account.
03 · ASK FOR A HINT
Try first, then seek a small prompt.
A useful request might be: “Give me one hint about the next step, without solving the question.” Try the hint yourself, then explain the method. If the answer is handed to you, close it and attempt a similar problem independently.
04 · CHECK THE OUTPUT
Confident wording can still be wrong.
Check calculations by substitution or another method. Verify quotations, facts and sources against your textbook, teacher’s materials or the original text. Ask your tutor about anything you cannot verify.
05 · TEST THE LEARNING
Can you explain it without the tool?
Try a fresh question with the screen closed. Describe why your method works. If you cannot do either, the next step is more explanation and practice, not another generated answer.
