A practical Combined Science study routine
Revise concepts, application and scientific reasoning together.
Use the right course materials
Write down the exam board, specification and tier. Use your school’s current topic list and official resources. Do not substitute a separate-science revision list for the Combined Science course without checking what is required.
Explain one concept
Choose a small topic and explain it without notes. Draw a suitable diagram or model, then check the explanation. Record the exact point that remains uncertain.
Apply it on a fresh question
Attempt a related question, identify the evidence or quantities given and explain the method. For calculations, show the relationship, substitution and units. Check the answer is sensible.
Practise scientific thinking
Use school practical materials to identify the question, variables and measurements. Interpret a graph and explain what the evidence supports. Distinguish a limitation in the method from an unsupported conclusion.
Revisit after a delay
Mix a later question with another topic so that you practise choosing an approach. Record whether you needed a prompt, then update the next priority with evidence.
Keep practical work safe
Discuss methods and data using approved learning materials. Do not perform hazardous experiments at home or assume an online task replaces required school practical provision.
